HOW IT STARTED
Two Broke Bartenders began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when restaurants across Memphis were forced to shut down and hospitality work disappeared almost overnight.
Like a lot of people in the service industry, we suddenly found ourselves out of work — but still needing to pay rent, help family, and keep moving forward. We started taking on whatever honest work we could find: helping people move, hauling furniture, assembling items, and setting up apartments.
What started as a way to get through an uncertain time quickly turned into something more permanent.
WHAT WE LEARNED
As the work picked up, a pattern became clear.
Most people didn’t need a full moving company.
They needed reliable help with small moves, assembly, and setup — the kinds of jobs that still require a truck, tools, and experience, but are often too small or awkward for traditional movers.
Apartments, dorm rooms, partial moves, furniture that comes in boxes, TVs that need mounting — these jobs were in constant demand, and people wanted them done correctly.
So we leaned into that niche.

Today, Two Broke Bartenders focuses on two core services:
Small Moves
Right-sized moving help for apartments, dorms, partial homes, and storage units.
Assembly, Setup & Mounting
Furniture assembly, TV mounting, grills, fitness equipment, game tables, and full apartment setup.
We serve Memphis, TN and Oxford, MS, with a strong focus on apartments, students, renters, and families who want things done efficiently and correctly.
While the hospitality industry has recovered, this work stuck — and we built a real business around it.
